History

Bottega Veneta was launched by Vittorio and Laura Moltedo in 1966.However interest in the brand declined during the 1990s so in 2000, the Moltedos brought in British designer Giles Deacon to shake up the languishing house.Bottega Veneta creative director Laura Moltedo officially appointed British newcomer Giles Deacon designer of the well-known leather label for F/W collection 2001.The Gucci Group acquired Bottega Veneta in February 2001. Tomas Maier, who trained at the institutional Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture in Paris, and spent nine years designing for another luxury brand, Hermes, came on board as creative director of Bottega Veneta in June 2001.
